eBird regional volunteer is still evaluating the provided details, but my wife
and I spotted
what we believe to be a Louisiana Waterthrush this evening at Oakdale Nature
Preserve on
Hadley Avenue this evening.
I can say beyond a doubt it was a Waterthrush. Field marks of bright pinkish
legs a
Along with great variety tonight I was astounded to find over 40 Bay-breasted
and over 60
Blackpoll Warblers. An insect bloom drew in species and made the south and east
ends of
Eagle Point Lake look like a feeding frenzy.
I've not seen anything like that before. The swallow counts were near
Checked out the 180th Street Marsh with my wife tonight for the first time. We
were treated
to an early Wilson's Phalarope. Several other birders coming out were able to
see and verify
also.

Found a Lark Sparrow in a small group of American Tree Sparrows and Juncos
tonight.
Sending mostly because I've never seen one in the park before and hadn't seen
any eBird
reports of them at all in the area.
Found and observed for several minutes feeding on the side of the road right

Spotted Raven at MN Valley National Wildlife HQ after seeing on this list. It
was literally out
the back door in a tree just over the hillside trail sign. Time was 4:00pm.

After that drove to Black Dog lake viewing dock. Found a pair of Rednecked
Grebe far on

Took my wife out earlier today to see about finding the Eared Grebe listed on
this group.
Walked up path behind main building along river to first open area for viewing
river on left.
After a few moments found a Horned Grebe on the near side moving with the
current.
