This morning I watched a Cooper’s hawk pursue a female bluebird. With the hawk on its tail the bluebird darted into a nest box. The hawk clung to the box at the nesting hole and beat its wings, apparently trying to flush the bluebird. The bluebird didn’t oblige. Bob Bystrom—Washington
