Here in Aitkin County, the largest flight of Common Nighthawks that I have
observed was on the 22nd. I didn’t count them but there were several hundred
birds flying in flocks around the Big Sandy Lake area.

We spent most the day looking for the LT Jaeger on Monday, but didn't see it.
We did see a first winter Sabine's Gull at headquarters pool, Red-necked
Phalarope, a few shorebirds. Mostly L G Yellowlegs, Semi's and Least
Sandpipers and a small flock of Stilt Sandpiper.

Hello All,
Birding along the Hedbom Forest Road in NE Aitkin County over the holiday

map, just east and just west of
Rough-legged Hawk - 2
Bald Eagle -3
Pileated Woodpecker - 1
Black-capped Chickadee - stopped keeping an actual count as there were
LOADS of them coming in to pishing.
American Goldfinch - 2
Crow - no #'s
Raven - no #'s

had no
concerns. Access is as it was in the past--park at the yellow gate and walk
in. Looking at their plans for the impoundment, there should be good
mud-flat areas in the eastern end...as long as it goes according to plan.
