I was able to pish out 5 White-Winged Crossbills from the spruces at the
small Kenneth Cemetery east of Blue Mound SP in Rock County this afternoon,
Fri. 02/25/22.
Birding in Rock was enjoyable today as there were several mixed flocks of
Horned Larks, Longspurs, and Snow Buntings, as well as a hunt

The Piping Plover at Lake Byllesby Dakota Cty side was refound this morning
about 8:45 by Ezra and Isaac Hosch and seen by others. Best seen by taking
small trail from cemetery down to north shoreline and look back west at
large mudflats area. Also many Semipalmated Plovers and good variety of

Yesterday (Sun. 6/14) about 5:30 pm. Hannah Field discovered a Swallow-tailed
Flycatcher on a power line along MN Hwy. 7 in McLeod County just a couple
hundred yards
from the Carver Cty. line (east of McLeod CR 9, just west of Zebra Ave.). The

This evening around 5:30 pm. at Eagle Lake (far west-central McLeod Cty.) there
were 2 White-faced Ibis.
Unfortunately as I returned to my car they flew off to the north.
The Eagle Lake water level has been drawn down significantly, so that this

There was at least one Black-throated Green Warbler singing away this morning
(Wed. 6/5) in Lake Marion Cty. Park south of Hutchinson in McLeod Cty. (the

Several birders saw the Hutchinson lazuli bunting today, even if only very
sporadically and fleetingly, throughout Sunday, May 19th.
The best viewing times were between 7:30 and 10:00 am, and about 5:45-7:00 pm.

Berniece and Earl Hall in the backyard of their home in Hutchinson.
The Summer Tanager has been a regular visitor since then to the peanut suet
feeder, and was seen again this morning (Sunday) around 9:30.
