Yesterday, July 4, I heard what I thought was a Henslow's Sparrow just
southeast of New London in Kandiyohi County. I did not see the bird, so this
morning, July 5, I returned with Ron Erpelding and the bird was singing again.
We were able to find and observe the sparrow for about 20-25
Just an added note that Ron, Randy and I also found a male Chestnut-collared
Longspur about 1/2 mile north of the location of the Sprague's Pipit. It was
foraging on the ground about 40-50 feet on the east side of the gravel road
that runs through the prairie.

This afternoon around 2:40 on the campus of Ridgewater College, Willmar, I
found a small group of White-winged Crossbills feeding on a spruce tree. Ron
Erpedling joined me and we could count up to 5 individuals, though there may
