Just an observation from Moorhead, MN. Yesterday when it was about -9 degrees
F, I looked out at my heated birdbath and the line of house sparrows waiting to
jump in for a bath was fascinating.There were at least 5 of them there
getting into the bath and taking a bath. That usually doesn
I too appreciate the MOU --- I love hearing what is happening all over the
state and use it as a means of “predicting” when the migration will show up in

The male Varied Thrush is still present today 1/13/13.– if you would like to
see it you are welcome to come – it is in the backyard of 438 Birch Lane,
Moorhead, MN – the best viewing of its most usual spot under the crab apple
tree would be by the corner of the garage --

This is Kathy Bresee -- the Painted Bunting was not seen today 5/22/09 -- the
last we saw it was about 6:30 on Thursday evening. If per chance it should
come back in tomorrow -- I will definitely post it.
It has been a treat to have the bird in our yard -- and to share it with all
