Yesterday I birded Carpenter Nature Center with Abrahm Simons from about 10
am-12:30 pm. Raptors included 33 BALD EAGLES, 36 RED-TAILED HAWKS, 1 COOPER'S
HAWK, and 1 PEREGRINE FALCON. There were thousands of waterfowl flyovers, most
of which were either too high up or too far out to ID.
There is a reliable flock of 10+ Snow Buntings hanging out in southern
Woodbury. I have seen them along Dale Rd. between Hwy 19 and Manning Ave and
Cottage Grove Drive south of Dale--always around midday or slightly after. This
month I have seen them 2/5, 2/6, and 2/10--every day I have driven
Shortly after 10 AM this morning, I was with Abrahm Simons and two other

This morning I found two HOODED WARBLERS at Afton State Park (Washington

weakly in response. I was able to get a visual ID on the first of
I found large numbers of warblers this morning along the river at Grey Cloud
Dunes SNA. In particular, singing Tennessee Warblers were present in very high
numbers, making it difficult to ID other birdsong. Highlights included 15
warbler species, Black-billed Cuckoo, Olive-sided Flycatcher,
At 1 pm today I found an EARED GREBE and a Horned Grebe on the bridge to Grey
Cloud Island (Grey Cloud Dr. S). Both birds were diving very close to shore
when I left at 1:30.
Earlier, I had 45 species at Cottage Grove Ravine Regional Park, including
Yellow Warbler, Palm Warbler,
There was an EARED GREBE at the Old Cedar Ave Bridge this morning, visible from
the boardwalk. It was roughly in line with the two distant power poles to the

This morning I had 7 Red-necked Grebes, 30+ Horned Grebes, 50+ Common Loons, 20

Around noon today I found approximately 10 SNOW BUNTINGS on Neal Avenue, about

Swans out in the fields, one Turkey Vulture, and many
I went back to Neal Ave where I found Snow Buntings earlier today. I was
unable to relocate the Snow Buntings, but I found a flock of LAPLAND LONGSURS
in the same place. The Longspurs were in the field east of Neal about 1/4 to
1/2 mile south of 70th st (Cty. Rd. 20).
