I was able to pish out 5 White-Winged Crossbills from the spruces at the
small Kenneth Cemetery east of Blue Mound SP in Rock County this afternoon,
Fri. 02/25/22.
Birding in Rock was enjoyable today as there were several mixed flocks of
Horned Larks, Longspurs, and Snow Buntings, as well as a hunt
A male Black-throated Blue WRbler has been working its way up and down the
now-famous creek at Sucker Lake in Ramsey Cty. this morning (Sept 1), amid
very heavy warbler traffic.
Seen and photographed by several birders on the east bank of creek (
opposite the trail where the LOWA was found ). Seems
At least 12 (probably more) Buff-breasted Sands at the Braun Sod Farms just
west of Jirik on CR 66 in Dakota Cty. On the newly harvested sod rows
between post box #s 1695 and 1840. Probable Bairds also. Heat waves making
viewing a challenge.

There are currently at least a handful (5-6?) of very distant Buff-breasted
Sandpipers at the Jirik Sod Farms in Dakota Cty. foraging among several
Killdeer.
Look west from the Jirik office bldg. on Blaine Ave just south of 200th St
On the far distant black dirt behind where the workers are cutting
To clarify directions to Mother Lake in Richfield (?), Hennepin Cty,
in the southeast quadrant of the intersection of Hwys 62 and 77 :
On Hwy 62, take the 28th AVENUE exit
south one blk to 59th or even 591/2 STREETs. There is an open space where
you can look west toward the small lake.

The Piping Plover at Lake Byllesby Dakota Cty side was refound this morning
about 8:45 by Ezra and Isaac Hosch and seen by others. Best seen by taking
small trail from cemetery down to north shoreline and look back west at
large mudflats area. Also many Semipalmated Plovers and good variety of
sand
Found in Silver Lake this morning during McLeod CBC. Visiting feeders and
roosting in nearby brush piles east of house at corner of Railroad St NE
and Grand Ave. in Silver Lake. This street is one block north of MN Hwy 7
as you drive thru town. Homeowners were not there so a note was left to
alert

Several birders looking since 8 am today in areas in Wright Cty where Milt
Blomberg found the N Wheatear yesterday. No luck so far.
A few bluebirds, lots of waxwings, many migrating raptors and a mixed group
of other migrants, etc. Beautiful morning!

Evening Grosbeak feeding right now in hackberry tree alongside Hillside
Cemetery road (northeast Minneapolis as described by Travis B. on eBird
yesterday). Top of Cemetery hill east side near chain link fence with
nearby feeders (a little past large Cemetery monument for urns?)

Refound Rick Gibson’s T. Solitaire at Lake Byllesby Regional Park in Dakota
Cty. from parking lot at corner of 300th St. and Gerlach Way (north side)
frequently making its whistle call from treetops. Also at least 8
Yellow-rumpled Warblers cavorting with juncos amidst the cedars and junipers.

Refound several times by several observers this morning between 8-10:15 on and
around cell tower on 680th Ave. just north of MN 16 near Dexter (Mower Cty,
parallel to I90), essentially same original location. (Look around the metal
racks about mid-level up the tower, a favorite perch)

Several birders kept watch at Salt Lake today (Tue. June 7) from 8am until at
least 3:30 pm without any Gull-billed Tern sighting.
Meanwhile, Blk-bellied Whistling Duck still at Hutch Sanctuary as of 7 pm
today. Looks rather dazed and confused.

Just saw 2 Yellow-throated Warblers fly from Gold Medal park to trees along
road on river side of Guthrie Theater. (12:05 pm) Good views but not good
enough to see if one might be female.
