I was out guiding two birding couples today. One couple was from a small
village in Spain and the other were from northern Italy. They spoke little
English but they saw a ton of lifers in Sax Zim Bog and Park Point.
Highlight:
- 8 Sharp-tailed Grouse displaying on the lek on Co. Rd 29.
New migr
I birded Goodhue county this morning (Hok-si-La and Frontenac). The birding
was on the slow side and most warbler species (15) in found in ones or twos
except for Tennessee and Redstart which were numerous. Also lots of Great
Crested Flycatchers and Orioles. Only saw 74 species between the tw
Birding today with some birders from Indiana. Arrived at the bog at 7:20am for
dawn owling.
Sax Zim Bog:
- No Hawk Owl seen near the intersection of Co. Rd 7 and Co. Rd 28. Made 3
visits looking for the owl.
-No Great Gray Owl on McDavitt Rd or the Admiral Rd.
Good News:
- 2 Black-backed Woodpe
I drove around saxzim on the 26th and did not find much beyond 3 mature bald
eagles and 1 northern shrike.
I looked extensively for the hawk owl and could not find it. I'm going to
Canosia in the morning to look for woodpeckers per mike cary's recent post,
take care. Shawn Zierman.

Two Harbors: White-winged Crossbills (30+) along 1st street between 4th Ave to
2nd Ave. There is large group of spruce trees along the lake walk across from
the city park. We saw these birds at 8:30am.

Hi all,
I spent a few hours birding today at Spring Lake Park Reserve/Schaar's Bluff.
The highlights included 15 species of warblers, including three Cape Mays, a
half dozen Chestnut-sideds, many Blackpolls, Yellows and Palms, and millions of
Yellow-rumped Wabblers.
