Jim Lind and I walked in the back of Tettegouche Park yesterday in
Lake County and heard/saw 5 Black-throated Blue Warblers. From my
several visits this year nearly every time one is singing at the
first junction from the back, about a 20' walk up the hill. Others
are throughout the park.

Yesterday, Tuesday, May 22, Gary Ash and I observed 5 singing male
Black-throated Blue Warblers and two females along the loop at the top of
Oberg Mtn., north of Tofte, MN in Cook County. There was one male at the
beginning of the loop and the others were along the trail going to the left

We also had fabulous looks at the following warblers at Oberg Mtn. (most
were singing loudly and were at eye level!)

Just before it poured I walked the back of Tettegouche Park. Five
singing at and north and south of the trail junction, about 1/2-1
mile in as you enter from the back of the park. Good numbers for
this early in the season. Did not try for the Painted Bunting or any
of the other really good b
On Friday, I had 5-6 singing atop Oberg Mountain in Cook County. Of
interest one had the unusual song. These numbers would be expected
at this time of year. More Black-throated Blue Warblers singing that
Black-throated Green Warblers.

With all the posts on the Slaty-backed Gull, some people (like me)
will still be driving up the shore for the gull. Black-throated Blue
Warblers are still singing in good numbers on Oberg Mountain, west of

Today on the west slope and top of Moose Mountain, at Lutsen in Cook
County, I heard 8 Black-throated Blue Warblers, plus good numbers of other
birds. This is about the number expected at this site at this time. In
2003 I first heard them a week earlier; last year a week later.

I heard 11-12 different Black-throated Blue Warblers on or west of Moose
Mtn near Lutsen today. Good numbers for that area. They are still singing
also in Lake County.
