1:15pm Viewed from Prescott, WI, marina The adult male Halequin Duck and Barrow's Goldeneye were due west of the high rise condos on the Dakota Co. side of the River. they were in with a flock of 75+ Common Goldeneyes.
Earlier several of us watched an apparent hybrid Barrow's X Common Goldeneye in Washington Co. at Pt. Douglas Park. The bird was an adult male and was intermediate between the two species in terms of facial disc, mantle and white scalloped scapulars, black shoulder "spur". Head shape was more like Common (peak above eye) on average, but the shape became more Barrow's-like on a couple of occasions (peak forward of eye with elongated slope to the rear). A first cycle-type Glaucous Gull was below the dam at Hastings.
