You don't need to go to Arizona or Costa Rica this holiday season, participate in Minnesota's 103rd Christmas Bird Count instead. We have seen Curve-billed Thrashers in Wabasha, Warblers on the North Shore, and an Annas Hummingbird in Bloomington during the CBC. If you packed up your suntan oil and fled the country last year you missed Lac Qui Parle break the million Canada Goose mark in only 29 short years. You could have seen 1 of 16 Three-toed Woodpeckers or 1 of 16 Goshawks (thankfully not at the same time and place). Why even 12 Townsend's Solitaires and a Harlequin Duck stuck around for the show. Contact your local Audubon Chapter, the MOU CBC Coordinator, Carl Greiner at (507) 271-8286, or visit the MOU CBC website at <http://www.moumn.org/CBC/> http://www.moumn.org/CBC/ for more information or to sign up.
