Has anyone tried just using a rifle scope for birding. I was just thinking they may be cheaper and certainly more mobile and lighter. Realizing they would not have the stability of a tripod mounted scope. Yet is may be a good way to pick up some of those birds further out that binoculars are not quite good enough for a good look at what it is.
