An update on the Western Tanager and Louisiana Waterthrush found this morning at Williams Nature Center, Blue Earth County:
The Western Tanager was seen as late as 5:45 this afternoon, but not by me (arrgh). It was last seen along the Vollmer trail near the north overlook. Around 5:30 this afternoon the Louisiana Waterthrush was singing at what I assume is the same location as where it was found this morning, west of the main shelter. In addition to its loud song, the bird was giving its distinctive sharp call notes. It crossed the walking path a few times and seemed to be chasing other small passerines. Territorial behavior, I suspect. Bob Dunlap, Nicollet County
