I spent the day birding Houston and Fillmore counties with John Hockema and
Chuck Juhnke (my fellow SEMOCAN brethren) and had good
birding and great fun!
Just south of the Lanesboro Fish Hatchery, we found a Townsend's Solitaire!

While birding Minnesota Point this AM (10/09) we saw and identified a Townsends
Solitaire near the most distant airport hangar. The bird was seen in the trees
just east of the last hangar and
Townsend's Solitaire & C. Raven at Ann Lake this morning; Northern Shrike
along Sherburne CR 5 near the Auto Tour; surprised that my only two raptors
were a Kestrel & Cooper's Hawk (have only seen one Rough-legged in Sherburne
this fall & early winter).

A Townsend's Solitaire was seen on 12/19 in Sibley State Park, Kandiyohi
county. The bird was seen by the park naturalist behind the Interpretive
Center.

The "MIA" Townsend's Solitaire reemerged over lunch hour today at Ann
Lake/Sand Dunes, after not being seen for a month.
Directions: take Sherburne CR 5 to 253rd (across the highway from CR 4),
proceed west on 253rd little over a mile. Park in the small lot on the

December. Anyone on this list seen it lately? It was hanging out in the cedars
and dogwoods by the prairie maze.

Watched and listened to a nicely marked Townsend's at Afton State Park this
morning about 11:30. The bird was singing and feasting on cedar berries.
Location: pine and cedar plantation rows 1/4 mile west of the trail shelter
on the north end of the park. Follow the trail from the shelter west
Today while hiking Afton State Park to count for the Afton CBC, Susan
Plankis and I saw a Townsend's solitaire.
Two hikers first spotted a bird they were unfamiliar with, perched
very close to the trail. We heard its warbling song and as we
approached identified it as a townsend's solitaire.

Solitaire in Duluth. The location was on the W side of the Rose Garden
along London Rd, near the pedestrian bridge leading to Leif Erikson

After church this morning my family and I went to Sherburne
NWR with hopes of pine siskins. The refuge drive was closed
because of hunting, so we drove along some other nearby
promising-looking roads instead. As we pulled into the Lake
Ann Campground road, I noticed a bird sitting on a wire. At

still on Ann Lake Campground Road (253), but had moved 1.5 miles in from
Highway 5 on the north side.

Campground in Sherburne County (only the second time over the last month
I've seen it). It was singing and - if you'll pardon the anthropomorphism -
cavorting in the sun & warmth.
This part of Ann Lake is accessible from

flying tree to tree & calling very actively a couple hundred yards from the

This afternoon (Saturday) the Townsend's Solitaire was still on the Ann
Lake Campground Road, 1.5 miles east of CR5, on the
