I just got back from birding Sherburne NWR and found an Upland Sandpiper. The
location was after the road goes to a one way, it makes a hard right and there
is a small wooded area on your right and prairie on your left. I parked where
the road turns left with a do not enter road going straight.

Hey birders!
I had a chance to get out a little this morning and
went for a hike with my family at the Kasota Prairie.
A pair of Upland Sandpipers flew over our head at one
point. We also had Field Sparrow, Bank Swallow, both
meadowlarks, and Brown Thrasher. No sign of
Red-headed Woodpecker yet
Upland Sandpipers are regular summer residents in the
Kasota Prairie area of southwestern Le Sueur County
and adjacent Blue Earth County. This area has also
had summer records of Henslow's Sparrow and Loggerhead
Shrike (documented nesting). Other great regulars to

Hello All,
Thinking ahead to the Spring and Summer (something we want to do with the
impending snowstorm for SE Minnesota!), but does anyone know of some
reliable locations for seeing upland sandpipers in the SE Minnesota area.
Again, thinking ahead to warmer weather birding. Thanks in advance.
Very active Upland Sandpiper near the entrance to Sherburne NWA's Auto Tour
on Saturday morning, landed within five feet of my vehicle (in addition to
calling overhead, landing on a stump for great scope views etc). My
apologies for the late post, but only back in the office this morning.

young birds, with down on the sides. We noticed that the
bill was about an inch long and thin. Then an adult bird
