Westskyline Hawkwatch, Duluth, MN.
The hawk flight the past few days have been very good with with the bulk of=20 the adult Broad-wings moving through. Flights include: 1968, 5765 (record d= ay)=20 and 670 on 4/30, 5/1 and 2, with the majority being Broad-wings with 1683,=20 5838 and 477. These totals top with the flight on 4/29 of 3394 Broad-wings h= as=20 brought the WSHC total to 28,645 which is a new season total for all raptors= =20 combined. Other notable counts/sightings the past few days include the following: 58=20 Turkey Vulture on 4/30 along with 17 Ospreys, 135 Sharp-shins and 3 Cooper's= =20 Hawks. On 5/1 an immature Golden Eagle flew over the lookout along with 13=20 migrant Bald Eagles and 8 Kestrels. On 5/2, a small flight of raptor but=20 highlighted by 77 Red-tails, mainly immatures and 11 Rough-legged Hawks. Non-raptors sighting includes: Ist winter Glaucous Gull flying around Enger=20 Tower on the 4/30 and the season's first Chimney Swifts as well.
