There are 2 American Avocets feeding in a man-made mudflat just to the south
across Hwy. 23 from the Paynesville sewage ponds. I saw a total of 107 species
this morning in Stearns county which is the most I have ever seen in a day in
Minnesota. The Avocet is also my 299th state bird so it was a
One American Avocet just observed at the Eden Valley sewage ponds. Ponds are on
north side of town east of hwy 22. Go east on Hutcheson, around the sewage
ponds to the trap range, the avocet was in the east pond. Despite a fair amount
of mud showing , the only other shorebird was a Red-necked Ph
