The answer is ... PURPLE MARTIN. Kelly Applegate banded purple martins at Meadowview Park in Elk River with red bands. My feather book confirms that these could definitely be purple martin, so guess the mystery is solved. Hooray! Thanks to everyone who weighed in! And especially to Kelly! Betsy
