To add to Larry's and Madeleine's posts, there are regularly several
Black-crowned Night-herons along Minnehaha Creek between Lake Hiawatha and the
"lagoon" just above Minnehaha Falls. Early this morning there were at least six
adults spread out along the creekside path.

If you're looking for them during the day, rather than early morning or
evening, or strike out along the creek, they tend to roost as a group along the
wooded bank along the "lagoon." This is the wide part of the creek visible
from Longfellow Gardens (E. Minnehaha Parkway and 39th Ave S).

The black crowned night heron was near the bridge on 30th Ave (pedestrian path)
that goes over Minnehaha Creek. I almost missed it because I was looking on the
water and the bird was sitting on the horizontal trunk of a tree that was
stretched across the creek. After a few minutes a second one flew in and the
two flew off downstream together about 50 yards. Thanks Madeleine for the post.
