Seven intrepid souls met at the Black Dog (Xcel Energy) power plant at 3:30
p.m. to view gulls, waterbirds and more. Gulls were few (and very distant) at
first but by the time we left at 4:55pm, some 600 settle on the water for good
viewing. We observed six species:

Iceland - one 1st cycle Kumlieni
Glaucous - 1 adult, one 1st cycle
Thayer's - perhaps 3 1st Cycle and several adults
Franklin's - 1 adult, and the most unexpected (and the only dark-mantled gull)
Herring - majority
Ring-billed - few
Head scratchers - a couple (probably odd Herring Gulls)

Other species of note:

Peregrine Falcon
Red-breasted Merganser (male)
Wood Duck
Trumpeter Swan (~20)
White Pelican

We will meet again Friday at 3:30p.m. across from the plant main entrance on
Black Dog Road - Bring a spotting scope!!
