Early this afternoon there were 5 Buff-breasted Sandpipers present at the
Harley's sod farm northeast of North Branch, specifically in the field on the
north side of 400th street, 0.6 miles east of Hemingway Ave. (opposite a
dried-out field). There were also 30 Killdeer here, and 3 Baird's Sandpipers
in the dried-out field. Scope is recommended.
Earlier I had observed 10 warbler species in Anoka county, migrants included 1
adult male Northern Parula, two Tennessees, and 4 Nashvilles. 1 "Brewsters"
type hybrid was seen, it resembled Sibley's illustration of "Brewster's
backcross adult male", but had the full Golden-winged Warbler wing-panels - a
very striking bird.
