One of the things I enjoy the most about birds is that the potential is always

Out doing my Greater Prairie Chicken census this morning, I was checking a
booming ground that is on the edge of some water, this
I had the Western Wood-peewee this afternoon with Pete Hoeger then
proceeded to a wetland Pete told me about. Go north from Ulen to 200th Ave
then west 1mile. Peeps, 2 American Avocets, Wilson's Phalaropes, several
ducks and a Whimbril.

Area birder Keith Corliss asked me to post this. Sunday morning just after
sunrise he found a Gyrfalcon perched on a utility pole 1.5 miles East of the
intersection of Highway 75 and 28th Ave North. This location is just east of
the Moorhead Lagoons and the Sugar Beet Plant. With

At 8:00 this morning, I found a Snowy Owl in a field 50 yards to the northeast
of the junction of CR18 and US75 near the Crystal Sugar lagoons in Moorhead.

I heard/saw the Sprague's Pipit skylarking at Felton from 1115-1130
todayfascinating display! I was at the pipeline post for a while, but
with the higher winds, I could not hear a thing over the wind turbines.
So, I walked a couple hundred feet north into the field and had an easier
time. Ano
The previously-reported Western Wood-pewee is singing in the same location
at Buffalo River State Park.
The directions posted previously are accurate, but please note that it's
420 steps, rather than paces, to the location from the bridge.

managed to see a few things of note this past weekend (10-11-12 May) in Clay

On Thursday, 7/4 between 12:30 and 1:30 pm. I birded the traditional spot for
Chestnut-collared Longspurs. The area was quit active and I was able to drive
the entire road, from the South end to the North end. But do note as

On Friday (11/18) afternoon I hit a few spots in Clay and western Becker
counties. At Buffalo River State Park in Clay County I heard a Common
Raven calling. It was snowing at the time and visibility was bad, so I
didn't get to see it.
