Maybe it's one of the pair that nested in Lakeville last year, or
other parts south or adjacent to this latitude. After all, we have no
certainty that the "southerly" nesters are later arrivals, do we?
Maybe they're just early starter, ready to begin breeding.

Around 7:30 this morning I observed a Common Loon flying south over County
Road B2 just west of Hamline Avenue in Roseville. I wonder if it flew north
looking for open water and had to retreat south. Any thoughts?
