Acting on a suggestion from Dennis Martin, we were able te correctly identify the raptor at St John's Lutheran in Mapleton as a Cooper's Hawk.
Much better lighting and photos made proper id possible.
The hawk was at the Lutheran church again, with the Collered Dove next door at St Theresa's. As soon as the Cooper's departed, the dove moved back to the
Lutheran steeple. A truly ecumenical bird !


Earlier on arrival at Perch Lake a swan flew over us and two more were on the lake. Probably Trumpeters? Large numbers of American Pelicans with far fewer Great Egrets and Blue Herons scattered around the lake.
