Canoeing down the St. Croix River today between the Franconia Landing in
southern Chisago County and the Log House Landing in northern Washington
County, I counted 7 singing Prothonotary Warblers on the Minnesota side of
the river. Most notably, 4 of these individuals were in Chisago County,
starting roughly 1.5 miles north of the Osceola/Hwy. 243 bridge to about 1
mile south of the bridge. Another 3 individuals were heard singing in
Washington County from just south of the Chisago/Washington county line to
just north of the Log House Landing.
