Hi I was out about nine am to the Coon Rapids dam when I saw all the ducks scattered. I looked around expecting to see a bald eagle but instead my photos revealed that I had a golden eagle. When I got home I sent my photo to Scott Mehus at the National Eagle center and he confirmed that it was a first year golden eagle. A few minutes after I saw hime circling and gradually heading north I saw and got photos of peregrine falcon on a pole on the Coon Rapids side of the walkway. Scott recommended that I post this so that if it is seen in the area again we can let him know.
