Not overly sure how the rest of the state fared, but Grand Rapids has
about 3" inches of heavy snow covering the initial sleet layer. We did
have a few warblers (Nashville, northern waterthrush, black and white,
black-throated green), blue headed vireo, white-crowned and
white-throated sparrows around, in addition to other migrants. I
suspect most birds simply hunkered down as it was very quiet today.
Tonight temperatures should drop to around 30, but we're expecting a
warm up by tomorrow. Curious if anyone finds any dead birds tomorrow.
Also of interest will be the condition of fruit, if any, from the
flowering trees and shrubs as spring progresses to summer.
