Earlier this week I saw and heard a noisy juvenile merlin perch on the roof
of John E Johnson School near the intersection of Arcade Ave and Phalen
Boulevard on the east side of St Paul.

I recognized the sound because last year about this time, two noisy juvenile
merlins provided the background music to an outdoor wedding in Door County,
WI.

There were also many chimney swifts in this area. The school/YMCA parking
lot in St Paul could be a good swift roost viewing site. The parking lot
overlooks the old industrial valley of east St Paul. There are several tall
brick chimneys easily viewed from the parking lot.
