Mike Hendrickson just called to report re-finding the immature King Eider first
discovered by Bruce Fall two weeks ago on Lake Superior. It was along Scenic 61
between McQuade Road and the Nokomis Restaurant.

A King Eider was reported early this afternoon by Jan and Larry Kramer at the
mouth of the Lester River in Duluth.

Kim Eckert relocated the King Eider at 1:30 today on the harbor side
of Park Point at Hearding Island (19th Street). It was with a flock
of scaup. Kim also said there are 1200+ Bonaparte's Gulls around
Hearding Island.

On the Grand Marais CBC today, Harvey Sobieck found a King Eider in Good Harbor
Bay. This is a little west of Grand Marais, and it was diving frequently less
than 100 meters offshore on the southern point of the bay.

This afternoon (Sat. Feb. 9) from 3:15-3:45 p.m. Susan Fall and I
watched an immature male King Eider in Lake Superior about 1/2 mile NE
of the Lakewood Pumping Station, Duluth (Lakewood Rd. and Scenic 61). It
was diving frequently, and was associating closely with 3 Common
Goldeneyes and 1 Red
Female-plumaged bird at Good Harbor Bay, at mile 104 just W of Grand Marais.
Found by MBW group late this afternoon.

Just received word from others that the King Eider found yesterday at the mouth
of the Lester R in Duluth is still present now (around noon) a bit E of there
along Brighton Beach Rd. Also a second-hand message that the Tufted Duck was
relocated this morning in the harbor behind the Pier B Hotel

This afternoon my roommate, Ted Keyel, and I made a visit to the lakefront
of Beacon Pointe Resort (23rd Avenue East) in Duluth, to see the reported
female King Eider. We got nice long looks at her, in addition to seeing not
one, but two White-winged Scoters. Kim Eckert picked out the second one

Apprently, it looks like the King Eider was found this afternoon by Stoney
Point
along with a Pacific Loon around 1:15pm, in the bay to the west. Just seen it
