We are out for 6 days to Prairie Marsh Farm in west central Lac qui Parle
County to do some mowing and general repairs. We hit part of the spring
migration just right. First off on the 12th I was able to relocate the Say’s
Phoebe found by Garrett and Frank and others last Saturday in Big Stone
Today Marsha Moreen and I found a few new shorebird species. 1.5 miles north of
Salt Lake in a flooded field on the west side of the road we found 29 Lesser
and 6 Greater Yellowlegs, 4 Wilson’s Snipe, 4 Semipalmated Plover and 10
Pectoral Sandpipers. We also found Lesser Yellowlegs at two other
Over the last three days I have driven around LQP county scouting for good
shorebird habitat. The country township roads are generally in good springtime
condition although a few are still blocked off because of flood damage. All
lakes and ponds have high water levels, but there is still a lot
