At approximately 4PM John Hockema spotted a laughing gull at the Wells WTP.
We studied the bird for over an hour. I was able to take photos, which were
sent
to Phil Chu for confirmation. It is a 1st cycle bird.
The gull is favoring the ponds on

Chad Heins just called to report that he and Andrew Krenz are looking at a
Laughing Gull on Sulem Lake southwest of Butterfield in southwest Watonwan
County. He said the bird may be injured as one of its wings looks a bit odd.

After further discussion from Chad and others, it sounds like the Laughing
Gull in Watonwan County reported earlier this evening is actually an
injured Franklin's Gull.

I arrived at the spot in Le Sueur County at approximately 7:10 PM. At about
7:30 PM all the gulls (approx. 30 Bonaparte's the Laughing) got up, and it
was great to see them all in flight and note the larger size and darker mantle
of the Laughing. However, all the Bonaparte's left the area.
Frank Nicoletti just called to report he saw an adult Laughing Gull
this afternoon flying W past Gull Bluff in WI, presumably heading to
the Superior landfill or Allouez Bay at the base of Wisconsin Pt. This
is probably the same individual which was at Park Point and Canal Park

An apparent Laughing Gull was found by Jan Kraemer and others in
Duluth this morning. I'm not 100% sure of the location, but I'm
pretty sure it was at the Park Point recreational area. Jan also
relocated the Whimbrel at the ball fields. I'll pass along the
photos later as well as any

To the best of my knowledge, the LAGU found yesterday by Phil Chu has not been
relocated. Several people searched yesterday and today (including me) without
success. Info to the contrary would be appreciated. A lone Marbled Godwit at
the Paynesville sewage ponds was the BOTD.
Phil Chu asked me to report that he had found a Laughing Gull on the
northwest side of Lake Koronis near Paynesville in Stearns County. The bird
was seen from CR181 about 0.5 miles north of its intersection with Crest
Ridge Road, where CR181 comes near the lake.

Chris Wood just called to report his discovery of an adult Laughing

Ring-billed Gulls.
