Each year, the MOU considers funding requests for bird-related projects. In 2012, awards included partial funding for the following projects: raptor nets for research and education (Hawk Ridge Bird Observatory); Chimney Swift tower and kiosk at Fort Snelling S.P. (Boy Scout Troop 100); binocular purchase and donation to several nature centers for youth outdoor education programs (Minnesota River Valley Audubon Chapter); nest box construction as part of Northwest Minnesota Community Nest Watch Project (Agassiz Audubon Society). Grant amounts ranged from $1,100 to $1,500.

Individuals or organizations who are undertaking projects in Minnesota that increase our understanding of birds, promote preservation of birds and their natural habitats, or increase public interest in birds, may submit grant applications to the MOU. Application information may be obtained by emailing: gra...@moumn.org <mailto:gra...@moumn.org>

The deadline for receipt of grant applications is January 31, 2013. Funding recipients will be notified during April 2013.
