At 1:05 this afternoon, I found my FOS Northern Shrike, in the far SW corner of
Lac qui Parle
County, hunting the field along the north side of CR 50 (aka 110th St N). This
is half a mile
west of Bailey Slough WPA. It was flitting between the fence-posts and the
small scrubby
trees clustered at the west end of the field beside Monighan Creek,
coordinates: 44.820162,
-96.443619.

Around 11:30 this morning, there were a pair of Trumpeter Swans on Bolson
Slough on the
south side Lac qui Parle CR 12, along with 50-some ducks, mostly Mallards and
Shovelers, but
hard to ID on account of the light. This is the slough directly SW and across
the road from
Sweetwater State WMA.

Red Crossbills are still roaming the area, generally sticking to mature spruce
trees.
