Following the trend of many CBC's this year, both the number of species and
individual birds were down in Wright County. Final results are not in
(e.g., a report on the ducks and swans in Monticello) but all seven parties
reported fewer birds despite working their territories hard on a mostly
clear, cold day.

Notable finds include Lapland Longspurs (two parties), White-throated
Sparrows (two parties), Barred Owls (two different sightings inside Lake
Maria State Park) and one confused-looking Common Grackle hanging out at a
feeder.

Thanks to all this year's participants: Mark & Cindy Crawford, Joel Claus,
Marie Digatono, Ruth Hiland, Leslie Marcus, Judy Chucker, Jim Ryan, Joe
Conley, Jerry & Donna Bahls, Herb Dingman, Mary Kay Bryan, Toni Lyrenman,
and Cheryl Sinn.
