Earlier in the summer, I still had a couple of Red-breasted Nuthatches coming to the feeder and wondered if they might nest near my yard in East Grand Forks/Polk County. I hadn't seen any for awhile now but thought I heard one very faintly yesterday, and for sure heard 2 closer by this afternoon. While I was looking through my eBird records to see the last date I had seen one (June 11), I glanced out the window next to me and there was one in my arborvitae tree fluttering its wings and mom was on the next branch with food. I'd say they nested here! I was looking through the occurrence maps on the MOU site and it doesn't look like there are any nesting records for Polk County, at least that I can see.
