This morning finally afforded better views of the Prothonotary Warbler,
male, along the backwater trail near the 35E bridge. Traffic noise was
quiet enough to make its song more audible over other birds' as it was sang
and foraged in the lower reaches of the upper canopy, directly above the
path. T
A Prothonotary Warbler has returned to the traditional nesting area in the
backwaters at the east end of Crosby Farm Park in St. Paul. Last week it
was heard singing on the temporary "island" just west of, and below, the
35E bridge. At that time, it allowed barely a look, as it darted across the
