Hi Folks,

Kudos to Derek for pointing out the value of eBird to us rare bird lurkers.

I was one of the group who reported our Hawk Owl and Great Gray Owl sightings
onto eBird for the bog. Many thanks to Mike H. and all of those on the list
for the good directions.

The Great Grays (2) were hunting on Stuckney road at dusk on Saturday night.
Successfully I might add. Despite all of our searchings we could not find a
Hawk Owl. We did find most of the other great birds including at least 5 Hoary
Redpolls and spanking good looks at Boreal Chickadee, Magpie, Gray Jay, Pine
Grosbeak, Black-backed Woodpecker, etc.

On Sunday we did find the adult male 3-toed just south of the BBWO spot on
McDavitt Road. It was tame to say the least. We could not find a Hawk Owl all
weekend in the bog so we hustled down to the bird reported just north of
Cromwell and saw it well at 12:30 PM. The bird was 2.5 miles north of the JCT
of 210 and 73 in Cromwell on HWY 73. It was catching voles and caching them in
an aspen tree!
