IF the federal government
Thanks for your calls and emails about this.

IF the federal government shuts down, the HQ/Office at Sherburne National
Wildlife Refuge will be closed.  It's unlikely that the phone will be
answered.
And emails will not be responded to by a "real" person.  All organized
activities will be cancelled until we're open again.

The two hiking trails - Mahnomen (where you can currently hear ruffed
grouse drumming) and Blue Hill will be open to the public for hiking.  The
restrooms will likely be available, unless the shutdown goes on for some time,
then they will be locked as well, as we will not be able to pay the vendor who
cleans them for us.

The Prairie's Edge Wildlife Drive will not be open during a government shut
down.  It currently is closed, as eaglets have not yet hatched.

Our law enforcement officer WILL be working, however, so NO beer parties on the
trails!

Thanks for your understanding about this.  It certainly isn't something any of
us want to go through, but it IS what it IS!
