Thanks to the many people who offered suggestions for gifts for a friend's 6-year-old nephew who is interested in birding. I compiled a list (unedited), which I've copied below. Of special note is the MyBirdClub, which seems like a great resource and group. Guides aimed at younger readers contain “Cool Facts” and other features. *Gear:* · Real adult binoculars are a huge help. Help “foster success by being able to actually see the bird.” $100-$150-level are fine. Sturdiness and moderate quality are important – fancy not necessary.
