Just a few more comments on the pewee I heard at Buffalo River State Park in Clay County this morning. It was giving a harsh "pheer" call and sometimes it was following it up with an odd less harsh call somewhat like the "Beeeiih" call on the Cornell web site. I don't know if the bird in question is a hybrid or if it's a pure Western Wood Pewee. I tried recoding the song as a video on my phone, but it's faint. I can try to text to someone if they want to give it a try. When I recorded there was the bird in question, a somewhat more distant Eastern Wood Pewee, an Alder Flycatcher and an American Redstart. I think the in video it picks up only the bird in question and the redstart. Mark Otnes Fargo ND 701-241-4194 --
