I was watching a pair of Tree Swallows today near Pickerel Lake and saw a
flight behavior I hadn't seen before. It looked like two bird were in a
synchronized flight and then free fell together for a few seconds before
separating. Is this some type of territorial display or courting display.

Tree Swallows have arrived in Houston County along the Mississippi south of La
Crescent.

While birding in William O'Brien State Park we saw 1 Tree Swallow. Later, we
saw 2 more on Chisago County 81 & 70.
Also noted were Fox Sparrows, Purple Finch, Rusty Blackbirds, Northern Flicker.
It will be "difficult" :-) to see warblers when the trees are already leafed
out!
