Jim Otto and I stopped by the location of the previously reported Common
Moorhen at 6:00 pm today (June 26).
As we stepped out of the car, an adult Moorhen with 4 very young chicks was
swimming from the near shore. A second adult was visible on the far shore,
occasionally calling.
Location is 2.8 miles south of US hwy 212 on McLeod county hwy 13, in the
slough on the east side of the hwy.
