check out some of the northernmost potentialities in western Minnesota, namely

WESTERN WOOD PEWEE briefly vocalized at Buffalo River State Park at approx.
1025 AM 4 times in about 3 mins, after a 30 minute wait. A Blue-gray
Gnatcatcher vocalized once and was silently foraging at the west edge of the
tract here as well, a bird I hadn't expected up here! On the way out, I

vocalizations.
The most interesting bird was an apparent intergrade towhee, located between
the pewee area and the next trail intersection to the east. The bird mostly
looked like a spotted - two bold wing bars, four

arrived at 9 ish , on vigil until 11 before we saw and heard the Western as
described by others. Eastern Pewee's were intermittent and not calling

Thanks. Bird continues. Captued a few audio recordings around 1pm today as
it vocalized a bit from the same area while confronting an eastern wood
pewee.
A yellow billed cuckoo was also flying around the same area and calling.

Drew Smith and I spent several hours at this site and found a total of 5
Eastern Wood-pewees, but no Westerns. Of these, 4 were vocal and seen well by
both of us using spotting scopes at close range. Each of the four were quite
similarly marked
Since there has been nothing posted since June 19 about the possible/
probable Western Wood-Pewee(s) found that afternoon at Gary Pines
Wayside a mile N of Gary along Hwy 32 in Norman Co, here is a summary
of what has been seen and heard. (Sorry for the delay, but this is the
