I was in southern MN over the weekend and when I returned on Monday things had changed. Most of the ice is off the lakes and some leaves are starting to bud. At Bisson lake (north end of Hamden Slough) there were three lesser yellowlegs along with a large number of green-winged teal. I also heard sandhill cranes in the tall grass but could not see them. At the southern end of Hamden Slough were bufflehead ducks and a pair of common mergansers.
