We saw 3 first of the year horned larks at the plane viewing area at the
airport yesterday. No snowy owls but it was nice seeing the horned larks.

We saw a few horned larks on Saturday in both Dakota County (180th and
Fischer) and Washington County at Neal and 60th. I have not seen any posts
about them yet for 2017, these were the first we have seen. Only about 6 in
total.

Out looking for the snowys in Dakota county (found at three locations over a
couple hours, locations close enough it's likely the same 180th st owl),
found a small flock of horned larks (perhaps a dozen) in one location and a
pair of horned larks about 5 miles from that flock.

While walking my pooches today, I had two flyover calling Horned Larks. This
along with the first pussy willows of the year is making me think it's an early
spring--I don't care if weather gal Belle says it's going to be below freezing
tonight--I have seen my first signs of what will be.

His Minnesota list is marked already for most of the birds one would expect to

Took advantage of a beautiful afternoon to visit the nearby Rapids Lake Unit
in Carver. Activity was pretty quiet at the feeders; just black birds and
chickadees and some nuthatches, but on the dirt road coming in were horned
larks. One was kind enough to let me take a picture. There were also seve
I was driving along Hwy. 28 between Glenwood in Pope County and Sauk Centre in
Stearns County on Monday afternoon, 21 February, between 4:30 and 5:00 pm. I
counted in excess of 250 horned larks along a 15-20 mile stretch of that road.
Perhaps they were "downed" in the area because of the storm
On a 30 mile excursion this morning in the Mapleton-Good Thunder area
frequently saw from i-6 Horned Larks at a time, generally on
windswept roads bordered by open fields. A flock of Robins was
