I just received a nice photo of a Purple Sandpiper taken last
Saturday, March 17, in Lake County. I have asked the observer's
permission to post the location on MOU-net and the digital image on
the MOU's Recently Seen page. (I'd rather not do either right now
since she may want to post
Not sure if there's still a question of identity here, but if so maybe
these photos will also help. Did not see the bird over the weekend...

This make #659 for my big year and is much more exciting than getting it on
the east coast as a gimmie. Next stop TX.

The Purple Sandpiper was present this morning at 10:30 am. It was actively
feeding on east
shore by the road going through the slough about half way between the north and
south
sides.

Pleased to report the Purple Sandpiper is still in Swift County. I drove out
with a
priest friend, Fr. Tom, to look for him and Fr. Tom found him right away on the
right side of the road where he has been reported. This was at noon today,
Saturday, October 22nd.

The bird was still present at the same spot between 10 and 11 am today
(Thursday 10/20), active and feeding on both sides of the road. Thanks to

I watched the Purple Sandpiper at the Lubenow WPA in Swift County from 1:30
PM to 2:15 PM this afternoon. Much of the time it was so close to the car
that I couldn't focus my binoculars on it.

As of right now the Purple Sandpiper is actively foraging all over 230th
Ave. between the two bodies of water in Swift County. A bit odd seeing it
right in the middle of the road I must say.

I headed out to Lubenow WPA as soon as I heard about the Purple Sandpiper and
arrived at about 4:15pm. There were quite a few hunters present.
The road (230thAve SW) winds along side the WPA, then through it, forming a
rocky shore on both sides of the road. The bird flushed from the west side
