I observed an Eagle down by the bass ponds this evening, ~5:00-5:30, that I
fear may be sick with Avian Bird Flu.

This eagle is one that is starting to show a fair bit of white on the head
and tail, so maybe ~4 yrs old I'd guess? This bird does not appear to be
banded. I have taken photos of this bird but have not posted at this time.

The bird was standing on the walking path along the west side of the large
pond and then when a walker got close it flew to the north end of the pond
and awkwardly landed in a tree. When I walked around the pond, I saw that
it had then left the tree and was standing on the walking trail on the east
side of the large pond. This is not normal behavior.

Then when walkers came close it flew north and me and two other birders saw
it had perched in a tree near the walking bridge by Ike's creek.

My wife showed me an email where the DNR requests we call to report
observing seemingly sick raptors, and I tried to call there but it is after
hours now so just got a recording.

This is the first I've personally come across a bird this spring that seems
obviously unwell, sad to see..
