In Mendota Heights we still have several dozen redpolls...and several dozen
purple finch arrived this AM, along with my first wood duck of the season which
attempted to occupy a brand new pileated woodpecker nest in the aspen at my
front door. Spring is late, but it surely is interesting !

My brother Tom and I just found 11 White-faced In Big Stone County on 640th
Avenue a couple hundred yards south of 460th street. It is about one half mile
south of MN7 and 2 miles east of US75.

Earlier this afternoon, about 1:00 PM, I discovered a White-faced Ibis at the
180th St. Marsh. My views were distant, and when I could get my scope on it,

While scanning the flooded field adjacent to our property just now, a gorgeous
White-faced Ibis flew in among the Caspian Terns. It stayed about 15 minutes
before a Bald Eagle flew in and scattered the group. The Ibis flew off to the
northwest in the direction of Lake Waconia and has not returne
I checked the flooded fields along CRs 30 and 24 again today. I didn't spend a
lot of time, but it looks like there was some turnover of shorebirds overnight,
as I was unable to relocate American Avocet, Dunlin, Red-necked Phalarope or

Another great day in NW MN. The highlight being 7 WHITE-FACED IBIS at the
Parnell Impoundment in Polk County. Pictures below. The impoundment is
open to the public, but is walk-in access only. The best walk-in access
atm is at the gate located on 240th Ave just north of Polk County 17.
The 2 White-faced Ibis in Becker County were still present as of 3:30pm Monday.
The location is 0.5 miles east of State Highway 59 along a "s" curve. The 2
birds were in a mudflat basin south of the road on the far south side on the
WPA.

There were two ibis at the old cedar ave bridge this afternoon between
1:00-2:00. One was clearly a white-faced ibis with a white border around
reddish facial skin and behind eye. The other ibis seemingly lacked any white
border around the facial skin or behind eye though it did have dull pink f

The adult White-faced Ibis is still at the Old Cedar Ave bridge in Bloomington,
Hennepin Co. It is day 4 that the bird has been seen out from the observation
platform along the Long Meadow Lake mud islands. It was tucked up taking a
snooze when I left around noon.

There is a breeding plumaged White-faced Ibis on Perch Lake in southern Blue
Earth County. The bird is visible from the south end of the lake along Lakewood
Rd. There is also a flock of about 300 small shorebirds at this location.
