I spent Friday evening through Sunday afternoon with Esther Gesick and Paul
Egeland surveying some breeding bird territories in Jackson and Watonwan
counties. We came up with the following birds of interest:
A singing Bell's Vireo was heard on the south side of Watonwan county road
1, about 1.3 mi
I did some midday birding at Frontenac State Park (Goodhue Co.) and found a
singing BELL'S VIREO right behind the entrance station. Other highlights
included numerous DICKCISSELS and PURPLE MARTINS around the station and along
the Prairie Trail, a probable HENSLOW'S SPARROW singing in the grass

The Acadian Flycatcher at Maplewood State Park was still present at
around 3:30PM on Saturday. It did not sing very frequently while I was
there so patience may be required.
